Chandrababu Naidu Slams AAP, Backs BJP’s Vision for Delhi Ahead of Assembly Elections

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched a pointed attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday, criticising its governance in Delhi and claiming that the city has become a “failed model.” As campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections nears its end, Naidu asserted that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance model could “save” the national capital.

With the election campaign winding down, political parties are making their final appeals to voters, ramping up attacks to gain an advantage ahead of the February 5 polls. Vote counting will take place on February 8 across all 70 constituencies in Delhi.

Speaking to reporters, Naidu criticised the AAP government, accusing them of being “here just to pollute Delhi.” He described the current state of governance in Delhi as “a failed model,” stating, “There is no doubt about it. Those who create wealth can talk about welfare. Without creating wealth, you cannot talk about distributing welfare. You have to develop the state to create wealth.”

Naidu also addressed the city’s pollution and economic challenges, highlighting Delhi’s position as the most polluted capital in the world. “Who is responsible for this? It is also becoming poorer day by day. This model is not acceptable; people have rejected it,” he remarked. Naidu emphasized that Delhi now needs Narendra Modi’s model of governance, calling it the “oxygen” that the city needs to thrive.

Earlier, Naidu expressed his support for the BJP in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I campaigned in Delhi for BJP ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. It was a pleasure to connect with the vibrant Telugu community here.” He further urged voters to ensure a BJP victory, saying, “I urged everyone to ensure BJP’s victory for a brighter future for Delhi and to help realise the vision of a Viksit Bharat, as outlined by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji. This progress can only be achieved with a ‘double-engine ki sarkaar’ (government).”

As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, the rhetoric between political parties is intensifying, with key leaders making their final push to sway voter sentiment.
