Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu underscored the transformative power of yoga, calling it essential not just for physical fitness but also for mental clarity and personal discipline. Speaking at the grand YogaAndhra event in Visakhapatnam, Naidu expressed confidence that the state was on track to create history with record-breaking participation in the International Day of Yoga celebrations.
“Yoga is not merely an exercise — it’s a way of life that sharpens focus, builds discipline, and enhances both body and mind,” Naidu said, addressing a sea of participants gathered at the coastal city’s RK Beach.
Highlighting the scale of the state’s involvement, he revealed that 1.44 lakh yoga instructors had registered for the programme, making it one of the largest yoga mobilisations in the world. He also lauded the remarkable feat achieved a day earlier by 22,000 tribal students, who performed Surya Namaskars in unison, setting a Guinness World Record.
Naidu encouraged citizens to adopt yoga as a daily habit, emphasizing that even one hour of yoga a day can deliver life-changing benefits.
He further noted that Yoga Day is being celebrated in 130 countries, symbolising India’s cultural leadership in promoting holistic health worldwide. Calling for integration of yoga into all sports and fitness routines, Naidu announced that yoga would become a key component of Swarnandhra 2047 Sadhana, the state’s long-term development vision.
“As we aim to build a golden Andhra Pradesh by 2047, yoga will guide our people towards stronger bodies, sharper minds, and a more focused society,” he said.
The event in Vizag marks a high point in the month-long Yoga Andhra initiative, which has seen mass participation across schools, colleges, and communities in Andhra Pradesh, reinforcing the state’s commitment to wellness, unity, and global recognition.
