CM Chandrababu Naidu Charts Vision for a Greener Amaravati
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has emphasized the need to transform Amaravati into an environmentally sustainable and green capital city. He outlined his ecological vision during a high-level interaction with a team of biodiversity and urban greening experts at his camp office on Friday.
The delegation, which participated in a two-day workshop on biodiversity and urban greening at the CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority) office in Vijayawada, included a distinguished panel of scholars and environmental specialists. Among them were Professor C.R. Babu, renowned taxonomist and former Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, Dr. Fayaz of Delhi University, Professor Ravi Prasad Rao from the Department of Botany at Krishnadevaraya University, Dr. N. Chandramohan Reddy, retired IFS officer, and Professor Shanmugapriya, a landscape architect from the School of Planning.
During the meeting, CM Naidu stressed the importance of ecological balance in urban planning and expressed his commitment to developing Amaravati as a model green capital that prioritizes biodiversity, sustainability, and environmental resilience.
“We envision Amaravati not just as a seat of governance but as a thriving ecological hub that showcases harmony between development and nature,” Naidu reportedly told the experts.
Following their meeting with the Chief Minister, the expert team conducted a field visit to Anantavaram Hills, Sakhamuru Park, and other strategic locations across the capital region to assess current green coverage and identify areas for improvement. Their observations and recommendations are expected to guide future urban landscaping, afforestation drives, and biodiversity conservation strategies in the region.
