Chiranjeevi Expresses Desire for ‘Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’ Sequel with Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s iconic socio-fantasy film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (JVAS) is set to make a grand re-entry to the big screen with a re-release on May 9, marking the 35th anniversary of its initial release. The film, which became a milestone in Telugu cinema, holds a special place in the hearts of audiences, and its re-release has sparked renewed interest in the classic.
The idea of a sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari has been discussed for years. Film producer Ashwini Dutt had long expressed interest in making a follow-up to this iconic movie with Ram Charan in the lead role. However, despite initial enthusiasm, the project did not materialize.
Recently, Chiranjeevi himself revealed his desire for a sequel to the beloved classic, with Ram Charan taking center stage in the lead role. In an exciting twist, Chiranjeevi proposed that Sridevi’s daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, should play the heroine, adding an interesting new dynamic to the project. The Megastar also emphasized that the original film’s director, K. Raghavendra Rao, should serve as a direction supervisor, with Nag Ashwin, the director of Mahanati, taking on the directorial role.
Chiranjeevi further expressed his wish for the film to be produced under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner, with Ashwini Dutt’s daughters, Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt, at the helm of production. While the prospect of a sequel to such a timeless classic presents significant challenges, especially in terms of delivering a storyline that surpasses the original, Chiranjeevi expressed confidence that with the right script and screenplay, the sequel could be even better than its predecessor.
The challenges of creating a story that meets or exceeds the legacy of the original Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari cannot be underestimated. The technical prowess available today can easily surpass the original film’s visual appeal, but the story must elevate the experience. Once a compelling story is found, Chiranjeevi believes that Swapna and Priyanka Dutt would have no hesitation in bringing the project to life.
If the proposed sequel materializes, it is expected to be one of the most anticipated films in Telugu cinema, with fans eager to witness the magic of a classic reimagined for a new generation. The coming days will tell if Nag Ashwin or Raghavendra Rao can craft the perfect narrative for the JVAS sequel, but with Chiranjeevi’s support and vision, the excitement around this potential project is already building.
