Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday spearheaded a high‑level review of the state’s district reorganization roadmap, urging swift action on promises made during the recent election campaign. At a meeting convened in the State Secretariat, Naidu brought together key ministers and senior bureaucrats to finalize plans for establishing new district headquarters across the state.
Alliance‑Backed Promise Report
Naidu instructed his administrative team to prepare a comprehensive “Assurance Fulfillment Report,” detailing each district‑formation pledge. He emphasized that this report—due immediately—must be drafted in collaboration with partners from the Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena Party, BJP, and representatives of affected communities.
“Our coalition’s victory hinged on these commitments,” Naidu noted. “We must consult all stakeholders to ensure transparency and shared ownership in creating these new administrative centers.”
Special Districts on Fast‑Track
Among the top priorities is carving out a special district around Markapuram, long advocated by local leaders. Naidu also called for expedited resolutions for mandals threatened by submergence under the Polavaram irrigation project, ensuring residents there receive dedicated district‑level services. Additional “special districts”—each designed to boost governance and spur regional development—were flagged for immediate follow‑through.
With this decisive push, Naidu’s government aims to fulfill its electoral “jobs and development” mantra by reshaping Andhra Pradesh’s administrative map to better serve its diverse population.
