Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu officially inaugurated Yogandhra 2025, a month‑long statewide yoga campaign, underscoring Yoga’s emergence as “India’s gift to the world” thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global advocacy.
“Yoga has transcended borders—nations everywhere now embrace it. This practice isn’t limited to a select few; it belongs to all humanity,” Naidu told reporters following the launch.
A Movement Beyond One Day
Rather than a single event or photo‑op, the Chief Minister emphasized, yoga must become a sustained lifestyle choice:
“Yoga’s true power lies in its transformational impact. We must weave it into our daily routines to reap its full benefits—especially in managing stress.”
Ambitious Participation and Certification Goals
- Two Crore Practitioners: Yogandhra 2025 aims to involve 20 million citizens across 68 designated sites.
- One Lakh Certificates: The state will issue participation certificates to 1 million dedicated yogis.
- School Hour: All schools will host a one‑hour daily yoga session to cultivate the next generation of practitioners.
Guinness World Record in Sight
As the campaign builds toward International Yoga Day on June 21, Andhra Pradesh plans a massive gathering at Visakhapatnam’s RK Beach to Bheemunipatnam Beach. Organizers have mapped out space for 258,948 participants, with Naidu suggesting a cumulative 500,000 yogis along the coast—surpassing the 153,000‑strong record set in Surat, 2023.
“With six kilometers of coastline at our disposal, we can set a new global benchmark,” Naidu declared, predicting Prime Minister Modi’s presence will further energize the event.
Culmination in Visakhapatnam
The month‑long initiative will culminate in the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, featuring a one‑hour mass session on June 21, where an expected 500,000 participants will unite under the theme “One World for Health.”
By mobilizing millions and aiming for a world record, Yogandhra 2025 seeks not only to honor India’s ancient tradition but also to embed yoga’s physical and mental wellness benefits into the everyday lives of Andhras.
