Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Calls NDA Meeting to Strategize for 2025 Elections
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has convened a crucial meeting with key leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at his official residence in Patna on Monday. Scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m., this gathering will unite senior leaders from various NDA ally parties, including all NDA Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), chairpersons of the 20-point committee, and district presidents. The potential participation of Union Ministers underscores the significance of this meeting.
According to JD(U) Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Neeraj Kumar, the primary goal of the meeting is to showcase unity among NDA members in Bihar. The discussions will primarily focus on campaign planning for the upcoming 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, with constituent parties—including the JD(U), BJP, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha—aligning for a cohesive campaign effort.
In addition to election preparations, the agenda will include strategies to effectively communicate the achievements and initiatives of the NDA government in Bihar to the electorate. This meeting comes amid speculation that the Assembly elections could be held earlier than expected, although no official announcements have confirmed this.
The timing of the gathering is particularly relevant, as by-elections are currently underway for four Assembly seats in the state, which many view as a critical test ahead of the 2025 elections. The NDA allies will also discuss how to address emerging political challenges, including the rise of new political entities such as Prashant Kishor’s party and the anticipated formation of a party by R.C.P. Singh on October 31.
Key issues on the agenda will likely include public dissatisfaction with certain policies, such as prohibition and the controversial implementation of smart meters, both of which have attracted criticism and become focal points for opposition parties. Additionally, past statements by some NDA leaders have occasionally strained relations within the coalition, highlighting the necessity for a unified communication strategy.
As CM Nitish Kumar prepares to lead the coalition into the 2025 elections, this meeting represents a pivotal step toward consolidating NDA allies and formulating an effective campaign strategy. Given that this is the first significant assembly of NDA leaders following Kumar’s return to the NDA, the outcomes are expected to significantly influence the alliance’s direction as they work to strengthen their position in Bihar ahead of the elections.
