Telangana CM Accuses BJP of Premature Rice Distribution for Ayodhya Temple
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy criticized the BJP on Tuesday, alleging that the party insulted Lord Ram by distributing ‘akshintalu’, rice grains mixed with turmeric, ahead of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Reddy remarked that ‘akshintalu’ is traditionally placed on the heads of bride and groom at weddings for blessings, suggesting it should have been distributed after the celestial wedding of Lord Ram and Sita.
Speaking at an election rally in the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, Reddy questioned the BJP’s timing, distributing ‘akshintalu’ in the state 15 days before the scheduled ‘kalyanam’ in Ayodhya.
He emphasized the Congress’s devotion to Lord Ram, citing the celebration of Ram Navami, and criticized the BJP for allegedly leveraging Hindutva for electoral gains.
Accusing the Narendra Modi government of failing to fulfill promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, 2014, Reddy displayed a mock-up of a large egg, symbolizing what he claimed was the Modi government’s lack of substantial support for Telangana.
Reddy also alleged a secret pact between the BJP and BRS, suggesting potential collaboration in the upcoming elections. He further claimed that KCR would align with the NDA, indicating a possible understanding with the BJP.
Regarding a probe requested by the Delhi Police over a video allegedly involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Reddy asserted that KCR’s previous tactics of harassment were now rejected by the people.
Polling for Telangana’s 17 Lok Sabha seats is scheduled for May 13.
