PCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud defended the Congress government’s Musi River cleanup, stating that it aims to prevent Hyderabad from facing a disaster like Wayanad. During a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud questioned whether the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leaders opposing the project want Hyderabad to suffer from severe flooding. He criticized BRS for spreading misinformation about the project and stated that not a single poor person’s home has been demolished yet.
“If Musi is not cleared, the city of Hyderabad and the neighboring districts of Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda will face massive waterlogging,” he warned. Goud also demanded that KTR and Harish Rao respond to the online trolling of Minister Konda Surekha, allegedly propagated by BRS leaders.
Congress Pledges Support to Retired Employees
In a separate event, Mahesh Kumar Goud assured retired employees from Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nirmal, and Hyderabad districts that he will work to resolve their issues. The retirees honored him during his visit to Gandhi Bhavan, where he promised to discuss the formation of a retired employees’ association with CM Revanth Reddy.
Indira Fellowship Program Launched
Goud also unveiled the Indira Fellowship poster, an initiative by the Youth Congress to honor the legacy of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy Labels BRS as “Enemies of Telangana”
In a parallel statement, Mahabubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy criticized BRS leaders, accusing them of opposing CM Revanth Reddy’s efforts to clean up one of the most polluted rivers in the world. He noted that around 25 lakh people live near the Musi River, and its toxic water is contaminating the food supply. Reddy claimed that while the Congress government is supporting the poor, BRS leaders are unable to tolerate CM Revanth Reddy’s efforts to do what KCR could not achieve.
