Hyderabad: K Keshava Rao, who recently rejoined the Congress party from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has been appointed as Advisor to the Telangana government for public affairs with cabinet rank. The appointment was notified on Saturday, July 6, by Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari on behalf of Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan.
Keshava Rao tendered his resignation from the Rajya Sabha MP post on Thursday, July 4, following his return to the Congress party. He rejoined the party in the presence of party president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Rahul Gandhi, and Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Having been associated with the Congress for 55 years before joining the KCR-led BRS in 2013, Keshava Rao’s return marks a significant development. His daughter, GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, also switched allegiance, joining the Congress party on March 30 after leaving the BRS.
