A political storm is brewing in the wake of Operation Sindoor, as the Congress party has launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of leveraging a sensitive national security operation for political gain.
At a press conference held in the capital, senior Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera expressed deep concern over what they termed the BJP’s “attempt to monopolize credit” for a military response that, in their view, belongs to the armed forces and the nation as a whole.
The Congress announced a series of ‘Jai Hind’ rallies across India, aiming to reinforce national unity and seek answers on several contentious issues—including US President Donald Trump’s claims of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, and reports that Operation Sindoor was abruptly suspended.
The rally campaign will be spearheaded by Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, who is expected to make a major public address later this week. The decision came after a high-level strategy meeting attended by key leaders including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K.C. Venugopal, and Sachin Pilot.
The meeting culminated in a formal resolution reaffirming Congress’s solidarity with the armed forces and its commitment to national unity, especially in light of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam that triggered the military operation.
