Title: Political Accusations Fly Following Attempt on Trump’s Life: Congress Slams BJP’s Allegations Against Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi: The political landscape heated up on Monday as the Congress Party swiftly responded to allegations from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that Rahul Gandhi had incited violence against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This exchange follows the recent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, reigniting debates over political rhetoric and security.
Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT department, accused Rahul Gandhi of repeatedly encouraging violence against Prime Minister Modi, citing historical incidents. “Third Time Fail Rahul Gandhi has often encouraged and justified violence against Prime Minister Modi, who he has lost election to, several times now,” Malviya stated.
In a counter-strike, Pawan Khera, head of Congress’ media and publicity department, condemned what he described as “cheap politics” aimed at exploiting issues of leaders’ security. Khera pointedly reminded the BJP of tragic losses within Congress ranks to terrorism: “The Congress party lost Mahatma ji to Right Wing terrorists. We lost two prime ministers at the hands of terrorists. We lost our entire Chhattisgarh leadership to Left Wing terrorists, under the watch of the BJP government.”
Khera further accused Prime Minister Modi and the BJP of orchestrating a campaign to malign Congress leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. “Prime Minister Modi and the entire BJP has been instigating people against the leadership of the Congress party by ‘spreading vitriolic’ lies against Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and the entire family,” Khera alleged. He also criticized the withdrawal of Special Protection Group (SPG) security from Congress leaders.
The BJP’s allegations were prompted by the recent attempt on Donald Trump’s life, where a young gunman fired multiple shots at the former US president during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, injuring his right ear. The incident has sparked renewed scrutiny over political discourse and the security measures afforded to leaders globally.
As accusations and counter-accusations continue to fly between India’s major political parties, the focus remains on the broader implications for national security and the responsibilities of political leaders in shaping public discourse.
