CPGET 2025 Notification to Be Released Today: PG Admissions to Begin from June 18
The official notification for the Common Postgraduate Entrance Test (CPGET) 2025 will be released today (Wednesday), marking the beginning of the admission process for postgraduate courses in Telangana.
The announcement will be made at 3:30 PM by Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) Chairman Prof. Vudityala Balakishta Reddy, Osmania University Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Kumar, and other key officials. As in previous years, Osmania University will take the lead in conducting the entrance exam. Prof. I. Pandu Ranga Reddy has been appointed as the convener for CPGET 2025.
Admissions in Three Phases
Admissions into postgraduate programs such as MA, MSc, and MCom will be carried out in three phases this year. The first phase of registrations begins on June 18, alongside the release of the detailed information brochure.
Notable changes have been made to this year’s admission guidelines:
- Disability Reservation Enhanced: Previously, 1 seat per 30 was reserved for students with disabilities. This year, a full 5% reservation will be implemented.
- AP Quota Discontinued: With the end of the joint admission quota, 15% of the seats previously reserved for Andhra Pradesh students will be withdrawn. AP students will now have to compete under the non-local category.
- EWS Quota in Focus: With the inclusion of the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota across eight state universities, the total number of PG seats exceeds 50,000.
Despite this high availability, officials reveal that only 22,000 to 23,000 seats are filled annually, while over 27,000 seats go vacant due to a lack of applicants or interest. Authorities are hopeful that the revised policies and clearer seat allocation strategies will help optimize admissions and ensure better utilization of available educational opportunities.
