CPI Leader Narayana Criticizes Film Industry Practices Ahead of Meeting with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy

Film industry representatives are set to meet with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in the coming days, with discussions anticipated to focus on various issues affecting the sector. Amidst this backdrop, CPI leader Narayana has made pointed remarks, raising concerns about the recent increase in movie ticket prices and the broader implications for society.

Narayana questioned the rationale behind the government’s role in promoting ticket price hikes, suggesting that such increases only fuel black market practices. “Filmmakers are investing billions to produce movies and earning twice the amount,” he said, expressing bewilderment at why governments would facilitate such price increases, which he believes ultimately burden the public.

The CPI leader also called for a shift in the kinds of films being incentivized, advocating for movies with meaningful messages rather than those that glorify crime or obscenity. He specifically criticized the portrayal of figures such as red sandalwood smugglers as heroes, claiming that these representations negatively influence youth and contribute to harmful societal attitudes.

Narayana’s remarks extended beyond the content of films, as he also targeted the growing trend of roadshows by film stars. While acknowledging that fans naturally follow their idols, he argued that granting permission for such events was inappropriate, suggesting they often go beyond the realm of entertainment and create unnecessary distractions.

The upcoming meeting between Chief Minister Reddy and film personalities has garnered significant attention, with many curious to see what decisions or policies might emerge from the discussions. The growing intersection between the government and the film industry continues to spark debate, with leaders like Narayana pushing for more responsible practices both in content creation and public engagement.
