Following a week-long suspension triggered by escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the resumption of the TATA IPL 2025. The league will restart on May 17, with the remaining fixtures spread across six venues, culminating in the final on June 3.

The decision was made after thorough consultations with central and state governments, security agencies, and key stakeholders. With assurances of safety and coordination in place, cricket is set to return in full swing.

The season will kick off at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face off against the Kolkata Knight Riders in what promises to be a high-octane restart. Notably, Punjab Kings’ home matches will no longer be held in Mohali or Dharamsala. Instead, their key fixture against Mumbai Indians, originally shifted to Ahmedabad, will now take place at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on May 26.

In total, 17 matches remain in the tournament, including two double-headers, both scheduled for Sundays. The playoff phase will begin with Qualifier 1 on May 29, followed by the Eliminator on May 30, and Qualifier 2 on June 1, with the final slated for June 3. Specific venues for the playoff matches are expected to be announced soon.

In an official statement released Monday, the BCCI expressed gratitude to the Indian Armed Forces, whose vigilance and successful defense operations enabled the safe return of sporting events.

“The BCCI is pleased to confirm the resumption of the TATA IPL 2025. After careful review with security and administrative bodies, we are confident of concluding the tournament safely and successfully,” said BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia.

“We salute the unwavering courage of India’s armed forces and reaffirm our commitment to national priorities while delivering an uninterrupted cricketing spectacle to fans across the world,” he added.

The continuation of IPL 2025 underlines both the spirit of the sport and the resilience of the nation, marking a return to normalcy after a tense geopolitical episode.
