KKR Crush CSK by 8 Wickets at Chepauk
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a heavy defeat on home turf at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, as they were outplayed by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a one-sided IPL clash. KKR comfortably chased down CSK’s paltry total of 103, securing victory by 8 wickets in just 10.1 overs.
Batting first, CSK struggled to find momentum and ended their innings at 103 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. None of the batters were able to make a significant impact, as Kolkata’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout.
In response, KKR openers came out blazing. Quinton de Kock struck 23 runs, including three sixes, while Sunil Narine stole the show with a blistering 44 off just 17 deliveries, hitting two fours and five sixes. The visitors stormed through the powerplay with 71 runs on the board, setting the tone for a dominant chase.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane anchored the innings with an unbeaten 20, while Rinku Singh supported him with a not-out 15 as KKR comfortably reached the target at 107/2.
Among CSK’s bowlers, Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad were the only ones to take a wicket each. However, the lack of runs on the board left them with little room to defend.
This loss marks CSK’s fifth defeat of the season. Despite a recent captaincy shift back to Mahendra Singh Dhoni following Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury, the team continues to struggle with form and consistency. The crushing defeat raises serious questions about the Super Kings’ campaign trajectory in the ongoing tournament.
