New Delhi: Cybercriminals launched an average of nearly 9,000 online attacks targeting Indian businesses daily in 2023, as highlighted in a recent report released on Monday.
Kaspersky, a leading cybersecurity firm, reported a significant increase of 47 percent in detected and blocked web threats for Indian businesses from January to December compared to 2022, totaling over three million incidents.
Jaydeep Singh, General Manager for India at Kaspersky, emphasized the urgency for Indian businesses to fortify their cyber defenses amidst escalating efforts by local governments to bolster digital economy and infrastructure.
“Failure to strengthen defenses risks compromising the full benefits of digitalization,” Singh cautioned. “Now is the time for proactive measures to safeguard against potential cyber threats.”
Web threats, encompassing various cybersecurity risks via the internet, exploit vulnerabilities in end-users, web services, or their operators, the report elucidated.
“As we advance into 2024, businesses must elevate their cybersecurity strategies beyond basic firewall and endpoint solutions,” Singh advised. He underscored the critical need for adaptive, intelligence-driven security approaches, particularly with the vast volumes of sensitive data handled by organizations and the potential for severe reputational and financial repercussions from cyberattacks.
