Court to Hear Darshan’s Bail Plea in Fan Murder Case
Bengaluru: The legal proceedings surrounding Kannada superstar Darshan take center stage today as a court is set to hear his bail plea in the high-profile fan murder case. Darshan has been incarcerated since his arrest on June 11, following allegations linked to the death of a fan named Renukaswamy.
On September 30, the court adjourned the bail hearing to October 4 at the request of Darshan’s counsel, who sought additional time to present arguments. Senior counsel Sunil met with Darshan at Ballary prison to discuss the details of the case and clarify aspects of the charge sheet submitted against him.
The bail petition, submitted after the charge sheet’s filing, asserts that Darshan is innocent and has been “fixed” in the case. It points out that aside from a significant head injury, no other major injuries were found on Renukaswamy’s body, raising questions about the circumstances of his death. The petition highlights discrepancies between testimonies and medical reports, suggesting a lack of evidence to support the murder allegations against the actor.
Darshan admitted to assaulting Renukaswamy, who had reportedly sent inappropriate messages to his partner, Pavithra Gowda. However, he claimed he was unaware of the victim’s subsequent death until later. The charge sheet, comprising 3,991 pages, provides detailed accounts of the incident, including how Renukaswamy was allegedly kidnapped and held captive by a group before his murder.
The charge sheet also mentions that Renukaswamy allegedly used a fake Instagram account to communicate with Gowda, boasting about being superior to Darshan.
Should the court grant bail, preparations are underway for Darshan’s transportation back to Bengaluru via helicopter, arranged by his wife, Vijayalaxmi. In the broader context of the case, 17 individuals, including Darshan and Gowda, were arrested in connection with the murder, with three co-accused already receiving bail.
As the case continues to unfold, all eyes will be on the court’s decision today, which could have significant implications for the actor’s future.
