Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s Father Passes Away at 92
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s father, Dau Lal Vaishnaw, passed away on Tuesday morning at AIIMS Jodhpur, following age-related health complications. He was 92.
Hospital sources confirmed that he breathed his last at 11:52 a.m., after being admitted for medical care due to deteriorating health over the past few days.
A native of Jeevand Kala village in Rajasthan’s Pali district, Dau Lal Vaishnaw later settled in Jodhpur, where he became a well-regarded figure in both legal and social circles. He resided in Mahavir Colony, near Ratanada Bhaskar Square.
Throughout his life, he held various roles that reflected his commitment to public service. He served as sarpanch of his native village and went on to build a respected career as a lawyer and tax consultant in Jodhpur. His work and integrity earned him a reputation as a pillar of his community.
His last rites will be performed later today at the Vaishnaw Samaj crematorium in Kaga, Jodhpur. The ceremony is expected to be attended by family members, dignitaries, political leaders, and senior government officials. He is survived by his wife Saraswati Vaishnaw, elder son Ashwini Vaishnaw, and younger son Anand Vaishnaw.
In a deeply emotional memory, when Ashwini Vaishnaw visited Jodhpur for the first time as Railway Minister in October 2021, the father and son could only meet briefly. Following the visit, Dau Lal Vaishnaw penned a heartfelt letter, writing:
“Perform your duty with such devotion that the face of every railway passenger blooms like a flower during the journey.”
The passing of Dau Lal Vaishnaw has drawn condolences from across the political spectrum. Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani expressed his grief, calling the loss irreparable. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also offered his prayers for peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family.
Ashwini Vaishnaw arrived in Jodhpur this morning, shortly after concluding a series of infrastructure-related engagements in Samastipur division on Monday, where he had inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several railway development projects.
