New Delhi: June 2 – Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was remanded to judicial custody until June 5 by a court here on Sunday in connection with a money laundering case related to the alleged excise scam.
Duty Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal issued the order after the Chief Minister was presented before the court via video conference following his surrender at Tihar Jail upon the expiration of his interim bail. The Supreme Court had granted this bail for Kejriwal to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed an application seeking a 14-day extension of judicial custody, which prompted the court’s decision. This application had been submitted by the ED on May 20 while Kejriwal was on interim bail.
The court decided to keep Kejriwal in judicial custody until June 5, noting that the concerned judge is expected to rule on his interim bail plea on health grounds on that day.
