The Delhi High Court, on Friday, issued an interim stay on the trial court’s decision to grant bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case associated with an alleged excise scam.
Additionally, the high court has served notice to Kejriwal, soliciting his response to the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) challenge against the trial court’s June 20 ruling that allowed him bail.
Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain, presiding over a vacation bench, declared, “The operation of the impugned order shall remain stayed until the pronouncement of this order.”
The court has reserved its decision for 2-3 days, citing the need to thoroughly review the complete records.
Earlier, a Delhi trial court had granted bail to Kejriwal in relation to a money laundering case linked to the now-defunct excise policy. However, the trial court had dismissed the ED’s request for a 48-hour deferment in executing the bail bond following the verdict.
