Delhi High Court Sets August 7 Hearing for ED’s Plea Against Arvind Kejriwal’s Bail in Money Laundering Case

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has scheduled August 7 for the hearing on the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) petition challenging the trial court’s decision to grant bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case linked to an alleged liquor policy scam.

During Monday’s proceedings, senior counsel representing CM Kejriwal requested an adjournment, citing the late receipt of ED’s rejoinder affidavit on Sunday. The bench, headed by Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, granted the request.

In a previous order on June 20, the Delhi High Court had stayed the bail order, criticizing the trial court’s vacation bench for allegedly not considering all relevant evidence and failing to provide adequate opportunity for the ED to argue against bail.

Last Friday, the Supreme Court had granted interim bail to the AAP leader in the money laundering case related to the excise policy, although he remained in custody following his arrest by the CBI on June 26.

The Supreme Court has referred Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest and subsequent remand by the ED to a larger bench, also urging him to consider resigning from the CM’s post.

Meanwhile, a Delhi court has extended Kejriwal’s judicial custody until July 25 in connection with a separate corruption case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court issued the order after the expiration of the previous judicial custody term.
