Flight operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB) have resumed normalcy following overnight disruptions attributed to unstable weather conditions.
In an official statement, DXB announced, “DXB has resumed normal operations this afternoon, subsequent to disruptions caused by inclement weather. All terminals are now functioning smoothly. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.”
During the night of May 1 and the morning of May 2, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong winds.
According to an airport spokesperson, approximately 13 flights were canceled on Thursday morning, with five inbound flights diverted overnight.
The adverse weather conditions notably impacted operations for UAE carriers, including Emirates, Etihad Airways, FlyDubai, and Air Arabia.
Emirates, in particular, was compelled to cancel flights to several major destinations, including Istanbul, Nairobi, Cairo, Amman, Singapore, and Johannesburg.
