External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar Arrives in Riyadh for First India–GCC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
Riyadh: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the morning of September 8 to attend the inaugural India–Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Upon his arrival, Dr. Jaishankar expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome extended by Abdulmajeed Al Smari, Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs, through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
During his two-day stay in Riyadh, Dr. Jaishankar is expected to engage in bilateral discussions with foreign ministers from GCC member countries. The meeting aims to enhance and expand institutional cooperation between India and the GCC across various sectors, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Jaishankar will travel to Berlin, Germany, for a two-day visit from September 10 to 11. There, he plans to meet with the German Federal Foreign Minister and other key officials to review and strengthen bilateral relations between India and Germany.
On September 12, Dr. Jaishankar will proceed to Geneva, Switzerland, for an official visit, further advancing India’s diplomatic engagements in Europe.
