External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Visit Kuwait for High-Level Talks
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Kuwait on August 18, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday. During his visit, Jaishankar will engage in discussions with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya and is anticipated to meet with other key Kuwaiti leaders.
The primary focus of Jaishankar’s visit will be to review and enhance various facets of the bilateral relationship between India and Kuwait. This includes discussions on political, trade, investment, energy, security, cultural, and consular matters, as well as people-to-people connections. The visit will also address regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Jaishankar’s trip to Kuwait follows his recent visit to the Maldives from August 9 to 11. In the Maldives, he was welcomed by Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and engaged in productive discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties. He inaugurated several High Impact Community Development Projects and signed MoUs in Male. Jaishankar also met with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, underscoring India’s commitment to enhancing India-Maldives relations.
Jaishankar’s visit to the Maldives marked the first high-level trip from India following President Muizzu’s inauguration last year. This engagement reflects India’s ongoing efforts to deepen regional partnerships and foster collaborative growth.
