Dubai: Emaar Properties, Dubai’s largest developer, has announced a substantial AED 1.5 billion (approximately INR 34.11 billion) expansion of The Dubai Mall aimed at enhancing visitor experiences and offerings.
The expansion project will feature the addition of 240 new luxury retail shops, as well as dining and beverage outlets. Construction activities have commenced on-site, although Emaar has not disclosed a specific completion timeline for the project.
Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, commented, “This development represents a significant enhancement to one of the world’s most frequented destinations.”
He added, “The expansion underscores Dubai’s ambitious vision to lead in global innovation and cultural offerings, reinforcing our city’s stature as a premier global destination.”
In 2023, The Dubai Mall set a new record as the most visited location globally, welcoming 105 million visitors, marking a 19 percent increase from the previous year.
Spanning 1.2 million square meters, The Dubai Mall is the world’s second-largest shopping complex, hosting over 1,200 retail outlets, diverse international dining options, and a range of entertainment and leisure attractions including the Dubai Aquarium, Reel Cinema, KidZania Dubai, and Ekart.
