Former Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, who resigned from her position to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), initiated her campaign in Hyderabad on Monday, April 29. Dr. Tamilisai, contesting as the BJP candidate from the Chennai (South) Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu, commenced a ten-day tour across the constituency ahead of the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The tour aims to engage with voters and spotlight the BJP’s vision for the constituency.
With years of active involvement in politics and previous roles within the Tamil Nadu State BJP Executive Committee, Dr. Tamilisai’s candidacy holds strategic significance for the BJP’s aspirations in Tamil Nadu, traditionally dominated by regional parties. The BJP, buoyed by an aggressive campaign and the nomination of several prominent candidates, seeks to leverage anti-incumbency sentiment against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) to secure a notable number of seats in the state.
