Director Nag Ashwin is offering detailed insights into the film “Kalki 2898 AD,” featuring Superstar Prabhas, well ahead of its release. In a recently unveiled second video, Ashwin elaborated on the distinct world of Kalki, emphasizing the uniqueness of its three main cities.
The first city, Kaashi, recognized as the oldest and last surviving city until 2898 AD, combines a modern futuristic aesthetic amidst scarcity of water and resources. Constructed entirely from recycled metals due to global resource depletion, Kaashi is characterized by aridity and limited infrastructure.
Above Kaashi lies the thriving ‘Complex,’ situated on an inverted pyramid structure reminiscent of ‘Trishanku Swargam.’ Here, abundant water and lush greenery contrast sharply with Kaashi’s harsh conditions, offering a luxurious lifestyle akin to pre-crisis Earth.
Lastly, there is Shambala, prophesied as the birthplace of Kalki and envisioned by its inhabitants as the harbinger of justice against the oppressive regime of the Complex. According to ancient texts, Kalki is prophesied to appear in Shambala during the twilight of Kali Yugam.
Director Nag Ashwin further detailed that each city in “Kalki 2898 AD” will feature unique attire, weaponry, and societal norms, reflecting their distinct cultures and governance systems.
