India-Australia Test Match Preparations Disrupted by Rowdy Fans in Adelaide
The lead-up to the second Test match between India and Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy faced an unfortunate disruption on Tuesday. During Team India’s practice session at Adelaide Stadium, around 3,000 fans gathered near the Indian nets, leading to major disturbances. The crowd’s behavior included taunting players, making body-shaming comments, and using offensive language, forcing the team to cancel their session midway.
In contrast, only about 70 fans were present during the Australian practice session. According to a BCCI official, the large turnout for the Indian team’s practice was unexpected. Witnesses reported that some fans were persistently urging players like Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant to hit sixes while others criticized players’ fitness, and a few even live-streamed the session on social media.
The disruption added an unwelcome element to the preparations for the highly anticipated Test match, which is set to begin on Friday.
