Fatal Explosion Occurs at Stone Quarry in Virudhunagar
Tragedy struck the vicinity of Virudhunagar as an explosion at a stone quarry claimed the lives of at least three workers on Wednesday. The force of the explosion caused their remains to be scattered and some to be buried under debris, as confirmed by local law enforcement authorities.
The impact of the blast, which resulted in clouds of smoke and sand engulfing the quarry, was felt by residents in nearby areas. In response to the incident, locals staged protests demanding the closure of the quarry.

Virudhunagar Police Superintendent K Feroze Khan Abdullah disclosed that the explosion occurred during the unloading of explosives from a vehicle, with the intention of storing them within the quarry premises. He emphasized that the mishandling of explosives likely triggered the devastating blast, leading to the tragic loss of lives.
