Delhi Police Registers FIR Against Arvind Kejriwal Over Misuse of Public Money in 2019 Hoardings Case
The Delhi Police has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with others, for allegedly misusing public funds to put up large hoardings across the national capital in 2019. The police made this submission in a compliance report presented to Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal on Friday.
The court had previously directed the police on March 11 to register the FIR based on a complaint that claimed violations under the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for April 18, with the police requesting more time for investigation.
In addition to Kejriwal, the FIR also includes former MLA Gulab Singh and former Dwarka councilor Nitika Sharma, who are accused of installing oversized banners in various locations. The complaint, filed in 2019, alleges that the accused deliberately misused public money for these activities.
The police now have the responsibility to investigate the matter, which has drawn attention due to the alleged misuse of government resources for personal or political gains.
