YSRCP leader and former Member of Parliament Nandigam Suresh has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault on Isakapalli Raju, a TDP activist. The arrest was made by local authorities on Sunday, and Suresh was taken to the Tullur Police Station for further inquiry.
The incident occurred on Saturday night in Uddandarayunipalem village, where tensions reportedly flared following a confrontation over rash driving. According to the police report and a complaint filed by Raju’s family, a vehicle entered the village at high speed. Raju, concerned for public safety, confronted the driver.
Shortly after the confrontation, a group allegedly associated with Suresh returned to the scene, physically assaulted Raju, and reportedly forced him into a vehicle. He was then taken to the residence of Nandigam Suresh, where he was allegedly assaulted again—this time by Suresh, his brother Prabhu Dasu, and several other relatives.
Raju was later admitted to AIIMS Mangalagiri, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
Police acted on the complaint and swiftly arrested Suresh. A manhunt is currently underway to trace and arrest Prabhu Dasu and other individuals allegedly involved in the attack.
The incident has sparked political outrage, with TDP leaders condemning the attack and demanding strict action. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected.
