India Condemns Deadly Terror Attack in Pahalgam; Tensions Rise Amid Pakistan Denials
India has strongly condemned a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where militants opened fire on a group of tourists, killing 26 people in one of the deadliest attacks in the region in recent years. The assault has reignited tensions between India and Pakistan, following confirmed links between the attackers and The Resistance Front (TRF) — a group affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and reportedly backed by Pakistan.
Indian security agencies have intensified the investigation, releasing sketches of three suspects, identified as Pakistani nationals: Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha. The TRF publicly claimed responsibility for the attack, prompting swift condemnation from Indian leaders and renewed calls for accountability on international platforms.
In the wake of the attack, Pakistan denied any involvement, asserting that it had no role in supporting or facilitating the militants. However, the deployment of additional Pakistani forces along the border has raised concerns in diplomatic and military circles about a possible escalation.
According to intelligence sources, fears are mounting in Pakistan over the possibility of an Indian surgical strike, similar to past cross-border operations conducted in response to terrorist attacks on Indian soil.
Amid rising tensions, former Pakistani Minister Fawad Ahmed Hussain Chaudhry took to social media platform ‘X’ to issue a unifying message. “Whether India attacks or threatens, we will all stand united to defend the country,” he posted, calling for national solidarity in Pakistan regardless of internal political differences.
He further urged the Narendra Modi-led Indian government to act with restraint, cautioning against decisions driven by “sensationalist media” that could jeopardize regional stability. “To protect our motherland, we will stand together under the Pakistani flag,” Chaudhry stated, while also appealing for diplomatic maturity to avoid risking the lives of millions.
The Indian Cabinet’s emergency security meeting, held shortly after the attack, discussed military and diplomatic responses. No official announcement has been made, but sources indicate that India is closely monitoring developments along the border.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and mourning across India, with demands for justice and enhanced security for civilians in sensitive regions. Meanwhile, international observers have called for restraint on both sides to prevent a broader conflict in the already volatile South Asian region.
