Pithapuram MLA Pendem Dorababu to Join Jana Sena Party
Former Pithapuram MLA Pendem Dorababu, along with his family, met Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri on Monday. During the meeting, Dorababu expressed his intent to join Jana Sena, and Pawan Kalyan gave his approval for his induction into the party. According to sources, Dorababu is expected to formally join the party during the Jana Sena formation day event in Pithapuram on March 14.
Dorababu, a seasoned political figure, began his career in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1999. Though he faced a setback in his first election, he went on to win the 2004 elections. However, in 2009, he switched allegiances from the BJP to the Congress party. His political journey continued with the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) following the death of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Dorababu contested the 2014 elections as a YSRCP candidate but was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, he made a comeback by winning the 2019 elections as a YSRCP candidate.
As the 2024 elections approached, the YSRCP denied Dorababu a ticket, instead nominating Vanga Geetha as their candidate. Geetha contested against Pawan Kalyan but was defeated in the race.
Dorababu’s decision to join Jana Sena marks a significant political development in the lead-up to the upcoming elections, and his alignment with Pawan Kalyan’s vision for Andhra Pradesh could influence the political dynamics in the region.
