Foundation Stone Laid for Young India Skills University in Telangana
The foundation stone for the much-anticipated Young India Skills University was officially laid on Friday by Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) at the Net Zero Valley in Meerkhanpet, Kandukur Mandal, Ranga Reddy district. The groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant step toward the realization of a university designed to offer world-class education and infrastructure, with a focus on sustainability and skill development.
The vision for the university took shape following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on October 26, 2024, between the Telangana government and MEIL. The event was graced by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and MEIL Managing Director PV Krishna Reddy, both of whom highlighted the importance of the project for the state’s educational landscape.
MEIL has committed a substantial Rs 200 crore investment toward the construction of the university, with an emphasis on creating facilities that meet international educational standards. The university is set to offer cutting-edge infrastructure, including an academic block, administration block, library, auditorium, advanced classrooms, and state-of-the-art laboratories, all designed to foster innovation and learning.
A key highlight of the project is the commitment to sustainability. The campus will feature eco-friendly infrastructure, including a zero-carbon footprint design. The open-air system with advanced ventilation will eliminate the need for air conditioning, making the university a model of energy efficiency and environmental consciousness.
The ceremony was attended by several key figures from MEIL, including Director Ravi P. Reddy, Vice President G. Shiva Kumar, and Project Managers Madan Kumar and Venkateshwarulu, who were all integral to the planning and execution of the project.
Once completed, the Young India Skills University is expected to become a premier institution, offering high-quality education and skills training aligned with global industry standards. The university will play a crucial role in equipping students with the necessary skills to meet the demands of the modern workforce, particularly in fields requiring technical expertise and innovation.
The launch of this university aligns with Telangana’s broader vision of creating educational hubs that cater to both local and international students, while also advancing the state’s goals for sustainable development and skill-based education.
