Ahmedabad: Skipper Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan showcased stellar batting performances, each scoring brilliant hundreds, leading Gujarat Titans to a commanding 35-run victory over Chennai Super Kings in an IPL encounter. With this triumph, Gujarat Titans maintain their theoretical contention for a playoff berth.
Sudharsan’s explosive innings of 103 off 51 deliveries, embellished with five fours and seven sixes, complemented Gill’s season’s first century—a composed 104 off 55 balls, featuring six sixes. Their partnership of 210 runs for the opening wicket equals the record set by Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul in 2022.
In pursuit of the challenging target, CSK faced a rocky start, but Daryl Mitchell (63 off 34) and Moeen Ali (56 off 36) steadied the innings with a 109-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
However, despite their efforts, CSK fell short as they managed only 196 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a late cameo by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who scored a brisk 26 off 11 balls, CSK couldn’t overhaul the target.
Mohit Sharma’s bowling spell of 3/31 spearheaded Gujarat Titans’ bowling attack, while Rashid Khan contributed with 2/38.
