Google to Invest Billions in Manufacturing Pixel Smartphones in India
New Delhi: Google has recently launched its new Pixel 8a device, boasting industry-leading features, and is now looking to manufacture its smartphones in India, potentially investing billions of dollars.
The company plans to partner with Taiwanese manufacturing giant Foxconn to produce new Pixel devices in Tamil Nadu. This move is significantly influenced by the Indian government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, which has successfully attracted global manufacturers to India.
The Google Pixel phones are equipped with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features, including Gemini and Circle to Search. The ‘Best Take’ tool, powered by Google AI, ensures every group photo is perfect by allowing users to choose the image where everyone looks their best. This feature utilizes a series of photos taken close together to create one exceptional picture.
Google AI also enhances video quality by reducing distracting sounds such as cars, wind, or construction noises. The Audio Magic Eraser uses AI technology to minimize these sounds with just a few taps, enabling you to hear the desired audio clearly.
The ‘Magic Editor,’ a new and powerful generative AI-powered photo editor, offers intuitive tools and suggestions for reimagining photo editing. Gemini, Google’s redefined digital Generative AI assistant, enhances productivity and creativity by providing personalized assistance and integrating the best of Google’s AI capabilities.
With the ‘Circle to Search’ feature, users can search from any app or screen on their phone in a natural and seamless manner. The Pixel 8a is also notable for its eco-friendly design, made with at least 24 percent recycled materials by product weight, the highest percentage in any A-series device to date.
Additionally, the Pixel 8a is the first A-Series phone to receive seven years of OS, security updates, and feature drops, ensuring long-term security and performance. The Family Link app, which includes parental controls, allows parents to manage their family’s digital experience effectively.
