With temperatures expected to soar between 35 to 40 degrees Celsius, the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is sparing no effort to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone attending the high-stakes IPL 2025 afternoon clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Recalling the grueling April 19 match at the same venue, where veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma struggled with the intense heat and had to leave the field multiple times, GCA is proactively stepping up precautions this time around.
“Given the forecasted heatwave conditions on match day, the Gujarat Titans and the Gujarat Cricket Association have implemented comprehensive measures to protect players, staff, and spectators,” a GCA spokesperson said. “We urge attendees to stay hydrated and limit direct sun exposure to beat the heat.”
To combat the sweltering conditions, the stadium will feature two fully equipped mini-hospitals, each with four beds, staffed by medical professionals and supported by multiple 108 ambulances on standby. Additionally, free drinking water points have been established at key locations including Gate No. 1, Fan Zones, and near the Ramada Club Gate.
Cooling stations equipped with mist fans and air coolers will be set up throughout the stands, offering relief to the crowd. Volunteers will distribute Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) packets across the venue to prevent dehydration.
Beyond safety, the match carries immense significance for the Gujarat Titans. This final league encounter against CSK is pivotal—securing a win would lock in a top-two finish for the Shubman Gill-led side, guaranteeing them a coveted spot in Qualifier 1 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on May 29.
With the heatwave looming, fans and players alike can look forward to a thrilling contest backed by meticulous arrangements designed to keep everyone safe and energized under the blazing sun.
