A tragic hit-and-run accident in Gurugram claimed the life of a young law student after a car, allegedly driven by a civil engineer, plowed into two students standing by the roadside. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on June 24 near Chanchal Dhaba on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway.
Law student Harsh and his friend Moksh had arrived at the eatery but, due to a heavy rush, were waiting outside for their turn. They were later joined by another friend, Abhishek. Harsh and Abhishek stood near the railing on the service road, engaged in conversation, when a speeding car suddenly struck them and fled the scene without stopping.
Both sustained critical injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, Harsh succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Abhishek remains under medical care.
Alert locals, disturbed by the fleeing vehicle, chased the car and found it abandoned a short distance away. They immediately informed the police, who began an investigation based on the car’s number plate and CCTV footage from nearby establishments.
Gurugram police confirmed that the vehicle’s driver, identified as 31-year-old Mohit, a civil engineer, was arrested. During interrogation, Mohit confessed that the accident occurred while he was driving home from work. He admitted to dozing off behind the wheel, leading to the fatal crash. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the extent of negligence and any additional charges.
