BRS MLA Harish Rao Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Misleading Telangana Youth Over Job Promises and TSPSC Fiasco

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA T Harish Rao on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of misleading the youth of Telangana, particularly regarding job opportunities and the recent Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exam fiasco.

Rao took aim at Gandhi’s remarks about the Congress government’s “Praja Palana” governance style, referring to a recent incident where Telangana police detained students protesting for the postponement of exams. “Rahul Gandhi ji, are you aware that students were beaten by your ‘Prajala Sarkar’ right where you visited?” Rao asked, challenging the Congress leader’s claims of youth welfare under the Congress regime.

The Siddipet MLA also criticized the Telangana Congress for what he termed the “rebranding” of the TSPSC into the Telangana Government Public Service Commission (TGPSC) without offering tangible benefits. He further mocked the Congress for failing to deliver on its promises of youth empowerment, citing the unmet promise of Rs 5 lakh assistance under the Yuva Vikasam scheme and the lack of job opportunities. “The Yuva Vikasam Rs 5 lakh promise has turned into an empty guarantee, leaving Telangana’s youth insecure,” he posted on social media.

Rao also criticized the Congress for only delivering 10 percent of the promised 2 lakh jobs, describing the much-anticipated “job calendar” as a “jobless calendar.” His remarks came in response to Gandhi’s recent statement, in which he accused the BRS government of neglecting the youth and vowed that the Congress government would prioritize their future. Gandhi also touted the assistance provided by the Congress government, including financial support for aspirants under the Yuva Vikasam scheme and plans to overhaul the TSPSC to match the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) model.

In his statement, Gandhi had claimed that the future of Telangana’s youth would be secured under Congress’s “Prajala Sarkar,” but Rao strongly refuted these claims, asking Gandhi to visit Ashoknagar, an area in Hyderabad, which he claimed had been neglected and turned into “Shok” nagar.

The issue of job insecurity has been a major point of contention between the BRS and Congress, particularly as Telangana heads into a crucial phase of its electoral and developmental process. Adding fuel to the fire, the recent protests by TGPSC Group 1 aspirants have raised serious concerns over the transparency and fairness of the Telangana government’s recruitment processes. Aspirants have expressed confusion and frustration over changes introduced by Government Order (GO) 55, which has led to calls for clarification and transparency about the future of their exams.

Protestors have raised key demands, including whether a re-examination will be held for all candidates or only those newly eligible under GO 55. There are also concerns about fairness for candidates who were previously eligible under GO 29 but find themselves at a disadvantage due to the new order.

As the issue of jobs and the TSPSC fiasco continues to dominate Telangana’s political landscape, the war of words between the BRS and Congress is likely to intensify, with both parties attempting to position themselves as the champions of youth welfare in the state.

Telangana’s youth have been misled by @RahulGandhi ji and his party.

Rahul Gandhi ji, are you aware students were beaten by your ‘Prajala Sarkar’ at the very place you visited?

Less than 10% of the promised 2 lakh jobs have been delivered, and the so-called ‘revamped TSPSC’ is… https://t.co/2LSdJ4gBTr pic.twitter.com/qogwk9oh6l
