Harish Rao Criticizes Congress Government for Claiming Credit, Urges Action on Pending Promises
Hyderabad: Former Telangana Finance Minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao has accused the Congress government in Telangana of claiming credit for achievements initiated by the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration. In an open letter addressed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on August 2, Rao emphasized the need to address promises made by the BRS government and highlighted urgent issues requiring immediate attention to protect the interests of the education sector.
Rao reminded the Chief Minister that in 2017, the BRS government approved the upgrade of 10,468 Pandit and Physical Education Teacher (PET) posts, fulfilling a promise made by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) during the World Telugu Conference. Despite this, Rao pointed out that 10,000 headmaster posts for primary schools remain unallocated and urged for their immediate distribution, alongside the promotion of Secondary Grade Teachers (SGTs).
The letter also addressed the need for clear policy decisions on election promises, particularly those related to the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and Dearness Allowance (DA). Rao noted that the previous BRS government had provided a 43% fitment initially and a subsequent 30% PRC, demonstrating commitment to teachers and employees despite financial challenges.
Additionally, Rao called for the immediate payment of pending bills and an increase in wages for midday meal workers. He also stressed the importance of continuing the breakfast program for students, which was initiated by the previous BRS government, as a critical measure for student well-being.
