Tensions flared once again along the Line of Control (LoC) as two loud explosions were reported in the vicinity of Srinagar at approximately 11:45 AM on Thursday, prompting immediate security alerts across the region.
Authorities activated sirens in several areas to alert local residents and ensure safety protocols were followed. The blasts, which occurred near Avantipuram, were described as “heavy and concerning” by local sources. Reports also indicate five successive explosions were heard in the broader region, suggesting a potential escalation in cross-border provocations.
Security has been ramped up around Srinagar Airport and nearby airbases, with officials urging heightened vigilance. The air force installation in the area has also been placed on high alert.
In response, the central government has issued orders to temporarily shut down 32 sensitive locations, implementing preventive security measures. Meanwhile, border towns such as Bathinda and surrounding regions have been placed under a security alert as a precaution.
The Indian defense and intelligence establishments are closely monitoring the situation, with speculation rising around renewed hostilities or covert infiltration attempts by Pakistan-backed elements.
Authorities have not confirmed any casualties or direct damage, but investigations are ongoing.
