The upcoming Bollywood comedy Hera Pheri 3, already one of 2025’s most eagerly awaited sequels, has hit a major roadblock. Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, beloved as Baburao, unexpectedly withdrew from the project last week—and now Akshay Kumar’s production banner, Cape of Good Films, has issued him a ₹25 crore legal notice for alleged contract breaches.
Sudden Exit Sparks Dispute
According to the production house, Rawal signed on and even shot portions of the teaser before pulling out without warning, jeopardizing significant investments. Insiders claim Rawal was paid triple his usual fee, yet ignored ethical and professional norms:
“If he never intended to complete the film, he should have spoken up before accepting advances and prompting large-scale budget commitments,” a source stated. “Bollywood must learn: unilateral exits won’t be tolerated.”
Fan Disappointment and Financial Fallout
The announcement stunned Hera Pheri’s vast social‑media fan base, many of whom followed Rawal’s January reveal and subsequent teaser shoot with excitement. The production asserts that his sudden departure has inflicted both emotional letdown and monetary loss—hence the steep damages claim.
Creative Differences Denied
Speculation swirled that disputes over script or pay drove Rawal’s decision. Responding on his X account, the actor firmly dismissed “creative differences” with director Priyadarshan, whom he praised for their longstanding rapport.
Future of the Franchise
Directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Akshay Kumar—who acquired rights from Firoz Nadiadwala—Hera Pheri 3 began filming in April with Rawal alongside Suniel Shetty and Kumar reprising their iconic roles. With principal photography underway, the makers now face a tough choice: recast Baburao or seek a rapid reconciliation.
Despite the legal wrangle, fans remain fiercely attached to the comic trio’s chemistry. As the controversy unfolds, all eyes are on whether Paresh Rawal will return to the fold—or if Hera Pheri 3 will chart a new comedic path without its hallmark Baburao.
