Mosque Vandalized in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur; Hindutva Mob Allegedly Involved
Kolhapur, Maharashtra: A mosque in Gajapur village of Maharashtra’s Kolhapur region became the target of vandalism recently, allegedly by a Hindutva mob chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The incident occurred during the ‘Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati Remove Encroachment campaign’, sparking outrage and concern among local communities.
A video circulating on social media platforms captures the disturbing scene where individuals, some adorned in saffron shawls, are seen attacking the mosque with axes and hammers, causing damage to its dome structures. Footage from the aftermath shows shattered windows and burnt pages of the Quran strewn across the premises.
Fortunately, no individuals were present inside the mosque at the time of the attack, mitigating potential harm to worshippers.
The incident has drawn condemnation from various quarters, with community leaders and activists calling for swift action against those responsible for the act of vandalism.
