Hooda Confident of Congress Forming Government in Haryana Despite BJP Leading
Senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda expressed confidence on Tuesday that his party would form the government independently in Haryana, despite trends indicating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had crossed the halfway mark. Speaking to reporters in Rohtak, the former Chief Minister asserted, “The Congress will get a majority.”
When questioned about the possibility of needing support from other parties to secure a government, Hooda reiterated his belief that Congress would achieve a majority on its own. He attributed the party’s anticipated success to the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi, and other prominent figures within the party, while also emphasizing that the true credit belongs to the people of Haryana.
As per the latest trends on the Election Commission’s website, the BJP was leading in 49 seats, surpassing the majority threshold in the 90-member Assembly. The Congress was trailing with leads in 35 seats, while Independents were ahead in 5 seats, and both the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) were leading in one seat each.
As the counting continues, the political dynamics in Haryana remain fluid, with Hooda’s statements reflecting the Congress party’s optimism in the face of the BJP’s current lead.
