Court Grants Police Custody of Choreographer Jani Master in Sexual Assault Case
Hyderabad: A court in Hyderabad has granted four days of police custody for Shaik Jani Basha, known as Jani Master, following his arrest in a case involving the sexual assault of an assistant choreographer during dance shoots.
The victim, who has been associated with Jani Master since her childhood, alleged that the abuse began during a trip to Mumbai for a dance shoot. She claimed that he threatened her with severe consequences if she disclosed the abuse to anyone.
In response to the allegations, the Narsingi police registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. After the victim revealed that she was a minor when the assaults began, the police also invoked relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Initially, the case was lodged at the Raidurgam police station but was subsequently transferred to the Narsingi police for further investigation. The police are expected to conduct a thorough inquiry during Jani Master’s custody to gather evidence and build a case against him.
