Hyderabad Issues Health Advisory Amid IMD Rainfall Forecast
Hyderabad: The Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Government of Telangana, has issued a comprehensive health advisory in anticipation of heavy rainfall predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad.
The advisory warns of potential health risks associated with the rainfall, including increased humidity and conditions conducive to viral infections, mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, and chikungunya, as well as water and food-borne illnesses.
Key preventive measures recommended include securing doors and windows with mosquito nets, wearing protective clothing, using mosquito repellents, and ensuring proper drainage maintenance to prevent water stagnation. Additionally, precautions against water-borne infections such as acute gastroenteritis and typhoid, as well as airborne infections like viral fever and influenza, are emphasized.
The advisory highlights the importance of hygiene practices such as frequent handwashing, drinking safe water, and avoiding consumption of raw or uncovered food. It also urges individuals to seek medical attention promptly if experiencing symptoms of flu-like illnesses or conjunctivitis.
In preparation for any health emergencies, the government has bolstered healthcare facilities with essential supplies and deployed resources including Ambulance Services accessible via the emergency number 108.
Residents are urged to adhere to these guidelines to safeguard their health during the anticipated adverse weather conditions.
