A Musical Milestone and a Nostalgic Reunion Drive Buzz for Upcoming Emotional Drama
The upcoming Telugu film Shashtipoorthi is making waves even before its release — not just for its emotional core, but for delivering some remarkable musical collaborations. After already impressing audiences by bringing together music maestro Ilaiyaraaja and Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani for the song “Edo Ededo,” the makers have now pulled off another rare feat.
For the first time in his Telugu music career, Yuvan Shankar Raja has lent his voice to a song composed by his legendary father Ilaiyaraaja. Titled “Raathrantha Rache,” the track is said to be an energetic number that highlights the unique synergy between father and son — a collaboration that fans have long wished for in the Telugu music space.
Though Yuvan has sung in Telugu before, Shashtipoorthi marks his first collaboration with Ilaiyaraaja for a direct Telugu production, making the track a landmark moment for South Indian music lovers.
Directed by Pavan Prabha, Shashtipoorthi is described as a heartfelt emotional drama starring Rupeysh and Akanksha in lead roles. Adding another nostalgic layer to the film, Rajendra Prasad and Archana, the iconic duo from the classic Ladies Tailor, reunite after 40 years — a special treat for Telugu cinema fans.
Scheduled to release on May 30, the film has been made on a lavish scale, with carefully crafted sets and top-tier production design. Produced under the Maa Aai banner by Rupeysh himself, the movie is riding a wave of positive momentum as its release date approaches.
With a compelling narrative, legendary musical pairings, and a dose of nostalgia, Shashtipoorthi is shaping up to be a must-watch this summer.
