India has strongly condemned Pakistan for escalating tensions along the western border, accusing it of moving troops into forward positions—an action interpreted as a deliberate attempt to intensify hostilities. In response, India reaffirmed its readiness to act with “proportionate and decisive force” if provoked further.
At a high-level press briefing on Operation Sindoor, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, joined by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, outlined the current security situation along the Line of Control (LoC).
“The Pakistan military has been observed relocating troops into forward areas—this strongly suggests an offensive posture,” said Wing Commander Singh. “The Indian armed forces remain in a heightened state of operational readiness. All hostile actions so far have been effectively countered.”
While reiterating India’s stance on non-escalation, she made it clear that this restraint is conditional: “Our commitment to non-escalation stands—but only if reciprocated. Any further provocations will be met with a firm and calculated response.”
Multiple Violations Along the LoC
Singh detailed the series of aggressive actions by Pakistan, including drone incursions and shelling using heavy-calibre artillery that targeted both civilian and military assets.
“Artillery fire and small arms engagements have been reported in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor sectors. Pakistan’s attempts to breach Indian airspace using drones were intercepted and neutralized,” she said.
India strongly condemned strikes on civilian infrastructure, particularly those around Srinagar, Avantipur, and Udhampur air bases.
“Pakistan has repeatedly targeted Medicare centres and schools located near these bases—an act we consider both cowardly and in blatant violation of international norms,” she added.
Swift and Targeted Response
Wing Commander Singh confirmed that the Indian Air Force has responded decisively, launching calibrated and targeted strikes against military-only sites in Pakistan.
“Precision strikes were carried out on command and control centres, radar installations, weapon storage depots, and other military infrastructure. Civilian zones were strictly avoided.”
She also revealed that Pakistan had attempted air intrusions across 26 locations, stretching from Srinagar to Nalia, with some damage reported at Indian Air Force stations in Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, and Bhuj. High-speed missile attacks were also reported post-1:40 AM, aimed at several Punjab-based air installations.
India’s Message: We Will Respond, But We Seek Peace
In closing, Wing Commander Singh underscored that India’s actions remain restrained and defensive in nature. “India does not seek conflict—but if pushed, we will act decisively. Targeting civilians and critical public services will never go unanswered.” The ongoing situation continues to evolve, with India closely monitoring any new developments along the border.
