The moment that people across the country have been waiting for has arrived. Counting of votes for general elections including AP Assembly and Telangana Lok Sabha seats has started. Counting started from 8 o’clock. First postal ballot votes are being counted. EVMs will be opened after 8.30 hrs.
Who will come to power in AP in a few hours? Which coalition government will be formed at the centre? It will become clear. Will the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi get a hat-trick victory? Or will the opposition India coalition surprise everyone by defying exit polls’ predictions? A public verdict will come out on that. Elections were held for 175 seats in AP. TDP, Jana Sena and BJP formed an alliance and contested the elections. Vaikapa stood alone in the ring. To whom is the blessing of the people in these two parties? It will be revealed.
There are total 543 Lok Sabha constituencies in the country. The minimum majority required to form the government is 272. BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal has already been unanimously elected to Surat Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat. Counting of votes in remaining 542 seats is going on. Postal ballots will be counted first. The Election Commission (EC) has already made tight security arrangements at the counting centres. The party agents were thoroughly checked and allowed inside. There are 96.88 crore voters in the country. The Central Election Commission revealed that 64.2 crore people, including 31.2 crore women, cast their votes, which is a record in the world.
In the last two elections, the Congress could not even achieve the status of the main opposition. It remains to be seen how much better it will achieve this time. This election is very important for the Left too. If better results are not achieved in the universal struggle, chances are that their survival will become more difficult across the country. Analysts predict that this election will determine the political future of Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray due to splits in the NCP and Shiv Sena parties. These elections are crucial for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party (SP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC).
